PRICES

Our fees vary according to the quality of audio signal (Bit Rate) that each station requires. (e.g. a stereo, music-based, station might require a higher quality than a mono, speech-based channel.) Also, whilst we want to keep all costs as low as possible, we also want to make sure that we give the biggest discounts to local, non-profit, stations. Consequently, we’re proposing a tiered pricing structure as set out in the table and details below.

‘C-DSP’ Stations/Licencees:- (See ‘Licensing’, below): Community and charitable organisations, based in Stoke and Newcastle. They receive a discount of nearly 30% off the main rate.

DSP’ Stations/Licencees (All others):- These stations are non-profit stations based outside the area or commercial channels.

Error Protection Rates:- In simple terms, increased Error Protection means better reception for a station. (Please see our ‘Tech‘ page for a more detailed explanation of Error Protection or click here.) However, the prices above assume that the service will be carried at that standard Error Protection level used used by most DAB muxes in the UK. (e.g. EEP-3A for DAB+ services.)  Nevertheless, whilst capacity is available we will be offering higher levels of Error Protection free of charge. As extra Error Protection uses more bandwidth so, at some point, we may need to use this capacity to make room for new stations. This will be administered on a strictly on a first come-first served basis, i.e. we may have to reduce the Error Protection levels for stations that have been with us the shortest time before others.

Contract Lengths:- To encourage take-up, we’re proposing an ‘Easy in – Easy Out’ approach. I.e. whilst discounts will be available for stations that can commit 12 months in advance, there will be no minimum contract length required to get, ‘on-air’.

Set-up Fees:-  For customers paying monthly where no contract is in place, a one off set-up fee (£250) for each new station will apply to cover the administration and configuration costs involved in adding the channel to the network. However, we will waive this set-up fee for stations paying the first three months in advance.

Advance Payment Discount:- In addition to this reduction, stations committing for 12 months will receive a discount broadly equivalent to a 1 month (i.e. 12 months for the price of 11.) Those paying up front for a year in advance will be offered a discount equivalent to 2 months (i.e. 12 months for the price of 10), as set out in the table above.

VAT:- Fees will not be subject to VAT. By keeping costs low we will stay under the VAT threshold.

Price Reviews:- We aim to review prices on an annual basis to avoid unexpected rises. In general, as a non-profit, we want to avoid raising prices unless our costs e.g. electricity significantly rise.
